A weekly newspaper in central Florida requested a total redesign of their layout. The newspaper wanted a to get away from a layout that was mostly copy.
We redesigned the masthead to display teasers of feature stories inside as well as an index of pages.
Bylines, headlines, subheads, captions, and other elements were restyled and a library was created with templates of these for ease of use.
We also trained the design staff on current newspaper layout trends, including frontpage stories with large, attractive photos or art that lead to a continuing page, advertising layout, and techniques to prepare digital copies of the newspaper for the printer.
As a result, circulation increased and we were asked to create a second "weekend" edition with new masthead and styling.
